Sarin Gejekoushian and her Armenian family grew up in the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. Now a student at the Hebrew University, she credits Jerusalem Peacebuilders' summer institutes with giving her life skills and experiences that have shaped her personality.

Sarin was a JPB learner twice, first in the Service-Learning Summer Institute in Connecticut and then in the Leadership Institute in Vermont. Thinking back on the experiences at camp, she realizes how they...

As our in-school programs have expanded in Jerusalem through our partnerships with Q-Schools and the Shared Learning program of the Jerusalem Municipality, JPB has also extended its reach in the Galilee area of northern Israel. Over the last few months, our Jerusalem Regional Co-Director, Yardena Prawer, and our Program Director, Jack Karn, have made important in-roads with new schools as well as reinforcing our partnerships with existing ones. During February, Jack led programs...

My name is Nicholas Levy and I am an 18 year old senior, from Netanya, Israel, originally from Brazil.  I joined JPB because I wanted to gain knowledge about my neighbors  from different backgrounds, learn more about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict according to different narratives, and of course, because I wanted to make new friends! Over the last two years, I  have attended two JPB Summer Institutes: Interfaith Citizenship (TX) and Leadership (VT)....

We recently caught up with JPB veteran Residential Assistant (RA), Daniel Alegre, who has worked with us for the last three years. Daniel has grown tremendously through his consistent participation and engagement with JPB, leading him to take on leadership roles at his university, travel to the Holy Land for an internship, and even organize JPB alumni for meet ups and social events. Please read on to learn how JPB was the key for Daniel:

Please tell us a little about yourself.

Building upon last year's success, JPB's Jack Karn continues to develop our youth programs across the City of Houston. Currently, we are offering in-school programming at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred HeartILM Academy, and the Helfman Religious School of Congregation Emanu El. A growing network of faith communities and schools are engaging with JPB's Interfaith Youth Houston (IYH) program, which has organized events around the city focused on interfaith understanding, service...

In September, JPB welcomed our new Jerusalem Regional Co-Director, Yardena Prawer, to the team. Yardena comes with an extensive background in peacebuilding, education, and group facilitation. She trained as a teacher with Teach First Israel (Hotam חותם) and has supported multiple youth movements. More recently, Yardena taught at the Ziv and Marks School in Jerusalem. She was also instrumental in establishing a pilot conflict resolution program for the Israeli Ministry of Educati...

At 21 years old, Jiries Elias is an impressive young man. He is in his second year of law school at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He was a JPB camper when he was 15 years old and then returned twice as a counselor after turning 18. And though he had very different experiences in his three summers, he credits Jerusalem Peacebuilders  with helping to shape his personality.

JPB was his first encounter with peace and leadership programs, his first attempt at discussing pol...
