NEW PORTER FELLOW IN JERUSALEM: Partnership advances with Amy Taylor
Our partnership with the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale enters the next exciting chapter with the announcement of our newest Porter Fellow, Ms. Amy Taylor. Spending a year in Jerusalem at St. George's College (SGC), Amy will assist JPB each week with teaching in area schools and offering program support. She comes to us with 12 years of experience as a teacher in secondary schools in London, and is currently pursuing a call to the priesthood. Sharing more about her new role

IN BRIEF: EXCEL in the news!
Last summer, the local newspaper at St. Catherine's College visited our EXCEL Institute at Cambridge University to see the program in action. You can check out the full article here. The EXCEL Institute is JPB's premier teacher training program for Israeli Jew and Arab high school educators. We operate this program in partnership with Retorika for Multiculturalism.

IN BRIEF: Interfaith youth serve in Houston
Kicking off the 2022-2023 School Year, teens from our Interfaith Youth Houston (IYH) program rolled up their sleeves, donned aprons, and put on hairnets to serve needy clients at The Beacon. It was so great see the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim participants back at work in the community, building interfaith friendships and developing leadership skills. Our next event will be at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church on December 4 will focus on welcoming refugees.

IN BRIEF: Deacon Jack reports from Nazareth
To support our teens and educators, Deacon Jack headed off to the Galilee for a series of teaching sessions and reunions. He had a great time catching up with many promising teens and partners, and even made time to visit some holy sites along the way. IN BRIEF: Pilgrimage update
In October, 22 pilgrims traveled with Fr. Nicholas to Jordan and Jerusalem for a powerful journey. The successful trip included members of Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church as well as friends from New England. In Jerusalem, the pilgrims also enjoyed the opportunity to meet JPBLD staff, alumni, and participants. In 2023, JPB will lead three pilgrimages with the Berkeley Divinity School, Order of St. John, and Emmanuel Church in Geneva, Switzerland.

JPBLD LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN: Israeli affiliate seeks first donations
JPB Leadership Development (JPBLD) is kicking off its first ever fundraising campaign, "Be The Change", in an effort to attract and build a local donor base in the Holy Lands. STUDENTS BECOMING LEADERS: School programs continue at good clip
With the fall semester of the 2022-2023 School Year off and running, JPB and JPBLD are hard at work in several schools, offering our leadership and peacebuilding courses for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. So far, our programs have reached hundreds of students in Nazareth (Salesian Sisters School, St. Joseph School), Jerusalem (Um Tuba School, Sts. Tarkmanchatz School) and Houston (ILM Academy, St. Cecilia Catholic School, and Emery/Weiner School). With a few more programs to go

BOARD MEMBER RECEIVES AWARD: Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor given
This month, we were greeted with the wonderful news that one of JPBLD's Board Members, Dr. Dalia Fadila, was awarded the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor from Issac Herzog in recognition for her work to strengthen education in Israel. JPBLD is JPB's Israeli affiliate, and Dr. Dalia has been instrumental in helping us launch new programs in Central Israel and East Jerusalem. Her son, Hameed, and daughter, Yasmeen, are graduates of JPB's summer institutes.

JOYFUL SUMMER REUNIONS: Alumni gather & reconnect
Over the last several weeks, dozens of youth and staff alumni from our summer institutes gathered in Haifa and Tel Aviv to reconnect and reflect on their peacebuilding journey with JPB. Participants enjoyed home-cooked and local meals at restaurants in Tel Aviv and Haifa before sharing in dialogue. The smiles, laughter, and camaraderie on display spoke to the strength of the relationships formed during the summer.
